Every. Day. Matters.

"Granite Staters should expect leaders who are curious, tenacious, and kind. Leaders who move with urgency. The future is bright if we get to work."

Mike Liberty,
Candidate for Executive Council

Top Priorities

Reproductive Care

Granite Staters deserve the freedom and privacy necessary for effective medical care. But extremists in Concord have been rolling back the clock on reproductive rights, attempting to ban abortion and working to dismantle access to family planning resources and healthcare. I will always stand up against attempts to limit access to reproductive care.

Facts

  • NH has the lowest teen pregnancy rate and the second lowest STI rate in the country due to the success of NH Family Planning Program

  • The NHFPP provides contraception, cancer screenings, and STI testing and treatment, for low-income and uninsured Granite Staters

  • The Council has repeatedly rejected effective NHFPP contracts despite no funds going toward abortions

Council Influence

  • Approves or rejects the contracts for members of the Family Planning Program, such as Planned Parenthood

  • Approves or rejects state judicial nominations, which are critical post-overturning of Roe v. Wade

  • Approves or rejects the appointment of the Commissioner of the Department of Health and Human Services, which administers the NHFPP

Affordable Housing

It's time to build. We need more and new types of housing to support New Hampshire's changing population. The housing crisis is acute, impacting all aspects of our lives. Hospitals can't house nurses. Retirees can't downsize. Young people can't afford to stay. And families can't realize the American Dream. We need to move faster.

Facts

  • In July 2023, there were only 1700 single-family homes for sale across the entire state

  • NH has seen a 45% home price increase since the onset of COVID, 10th in the country

  • The over 65 population in NH is expected to double by 2035. Affordable housing is needed for caregivers and downsizing options

Council Influence

  • Approves or rejects the commissioner for DOT where reviews of new developments often stall

  • Approves or rejects judicial appointments who hear housing appeals directly and/or appoint to Housing Appeals Board

  • Approves or rejects use of funding for affordable housing initiatives outlined in the state budget along with any federal grants

Public Education

The success of our public schools is critical for the success of New Hampshire. I will work to properly fund public schools, ensure students have the tools to succeed, hold the Education Commissioner accountable, fight contracts that privatize our public schools, and stand up against Board of Education nominees that aim to dismantle public education.

Facts

  • NH public schools routinely rank in the Top 5 in the US, but there are vast differences by community

  • So-called "Education Freedom Accounts" have cost NH nearly 7x more than projected, funneling millions out of public schools

  • The Education Comm. used his sway to get courses from a fake college using social media influencers as "professors" to count for high school credit

Council Influence

  • Approves or rejects the contract for the overbudget and harmful school voucher program

  • Approves or rejects the Governor's nominee for Commissioner of Education, and can exercise critical oversight and accountability on the Commissioner

  • Approves or rejects nominations for members of the State Board of Education

Modern Transportation

One of the prime responsibilities of the Council is stewarding the state’s 10 year transportation and infrastructure plan. Modernizing our communities’ infrastructure, ensuring the quality of our bridges and roads, is critical to guarantee the safety of Granite Staters and an opportunity to create well paying jobs. I will work on the Council to ensure the communities of District 2 get their projects prioritized.

Facts

  • NH’s most recent Infrastructure Report Card grade was a C-

  • The 2025-34 draft ten year plan has 222 red-listed bridges in the state

  • The draft 10-year plan assumes $2.7bn coming from the Federal Highway Administration

Council Influence

  • Serving as the Governor’s Advisory Council on Intermodal Transportation, Councilors craft the plan to apply federal, state and local funding to projects around the state

  • Approves or rejects, and can advocate for, studies on new modes of transit for New Hampshire, including commuter rail

Green Abundance

Recent technological advancements have transformed energy production, showing Granite Staters that we don't have to choose between low prices or clean energy, abundance or health, and growth or sustainability. To fast-track New Hampshire towards a sustainable future, we need leaders who grasp the significance of this shift.

Facts

  • NH generates less electricity from renewable sources than any other state in New England

  • Cost of solar continues to fall, dropping 82% from 2010-20. In many instances, solar/wind are already the least expensive energy production methods

  • DES estimates that 1,300 Granite Staters die prematurely each year from man-made PM 2.5 air pollution

Council Influence

  • Confirms or rejects critical appointments to state agencies and holds them accountable for taking leadership on important energy and environmental issues

  • Approves or rejects contracts for studies, such as the effects of PFAS pollution in drinking water

  • Authorizes State agencies to seek aid and grants under the Inflation Reduction Act

Working Families

As a business leader, I know if employees are worried about making ends meet they can't be effective in their jobs. Our police, firefighters, nurses, and tradespeople shouldn't have to think about how to pay the bills or get childcare while they protect our homes, provide medical care, and build our roads. On the Council, I will always work to ensure approved contracts are fair because that’s what gets our citizens the best results.

Facts

  • The cost of housing and healthcare in NH have both risen faster than wages since 2017

  • The number of licensed childcare programs in the state has declined 36% from 2001

  • As of the end of 2022, the New Hampshire Retirement System, which is responsible for the $10.7bn Trust Fund, is funded at only 65.6% (but with a plan to get to 100%)

Council Influence

  • Can ensure that all approved contracts pay fair wages and prioritize creating local jobs

  • Approve or rejects childcare funding through the Department of Health and Human Services

  • Ensures the NHRS board appointees understand their fiduciary duty to the state's pensioners and obligation to make sound investment decisions
